This is one of the most requested tours through the Moroccan desert. It is a 4-day, 3-night tour that will take us to the most famous and visited places in the Sahara Desert.

In it you will discover the most beautiful arid and desert landscapes in the south of the country, ancient kasbahs, immense palm groves, beautiful Berber villages that blend into the landscape and the exciting dunes of Merzouga. In this last place you will have the privilege of spending a night in the heart of Erg Chebbi, in a tent camp where you can appreciate the beautiful spectacle of the starry sky of the desert and the beautiful sunrise over the dunes.

4 day desert tour from Marrakech itinerary:

DAY 1: MARRAKECH – SKOURA – VALLEY OF ROSES – GORGES AND DADES VALLEY

Pick up at your hotel in Marrakech at 08.00 and start of the route. Departure from Marrakech via the Col Tichka mountain pass, where we will cross the Atlas Mountains making stops to enjoy the magnificent views that the route offers us and to rest or take photos whenever you feel like it. Continue towards Ouarzazate, where we will see the Kasbah of Taourirt. We continue the route meeting the town of Skoura, located in the heart of the valley of palm trees, an extensive and labyrinthine oasis, whose lush vegetation covers beautiful secret kasbahs. We will take a 4×4 tour of the Skoura palm grove and we will also visit its kasbah of Amerdil. From here we will continue through the Valley of Roses (famous for its cultivation) until we reach the impressive Dades Gorges. Dinner and overnight in Dades.

DAY 2: DADES VALLEY – TODRA GORGES – ERFOUD – RISSANI – ERG CHEBBI DESERT

After breakfast, we will continue along the banks of Boulmane, where a road opens up dotted with kasbahs (fortresses or castles) and ksour (fortified citadel), whose landscape is ochre, red and mauve. Around us we will find rocky plateaus where dromedaries graze. After a journey full of ksour, oases and palm trees we will arrive at Tineghir (where the spectacular Todra Gorges are located) perched at 1,350 m above sea level and surrounded by a palm grove. We continue towards Erfoud (city of fossils) and then we will arrive at Rissani, with its interesting market, where the nomads from the surrounding area come to sell their cattle and buy the belongings they need. Finally we will arrive at Merzouga, in front of the high dunes of Erg Chebbi. In the afternoon the dromedaries await us to enter the desert, while the sun sets, until we reach the tent camp in the middle of the desert of high dunes, where we will spend the night in a tent. Dinner and night in a tent under the stars of the desert.

DAY 3: MERZOUGA – KHAMLIA – ALNIF – DRAA VALLEY – OUARZAZATE

In the morning we will return by dromedary to the hotel for breakfast. Breakfast and visit to Khamlia, a native village of Mali, where we will relax with a tea while enjoying a small concert of gnawa music. Before leaving Merzouga, we will take a short tour of the Erg Chebbi in a 4×4, an expanse of sand desert where the Great Dune of Morocco is located, more than 250 metres high, connecting by track with part of the route followed by the old Paris-Dakar and with the mountains that border Algeria in the background. Stop at a panoramic point where you can see the Erg Chebbi as a whole. We will use the rest of the day to return to Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley, one of the longest rivers in Morocco. Stops to contemplate the charming adobe kasbahs and Berber villages that dot the route and the interesting geological formations of the Draa Valley. Dinner and night in Ouarzazate.

DAY 4: OUARZAZATE– AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

Ouarzazate is also known as the Hollywood of Morocco, as many famous films have been shot there (The Jewel of the Nile, The Scorpion King, Kingdom of Heaven, Mission Cleopatra…) and are still being shot. If you like cinema, you can visit the film studios where the sets for some of these films are located. Then we head north along a 6 km track that will take us to the village of Ait Ben Haddou where we will visit its Kasbah (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO). In this spectacular setting, such renowned films as Gladiator and the Jewel of the Nile have been shot. Lunch in the village and we will continue We will cross the High Atlas Mountains again with its beautiful landscapes. Arrival in Marrakech, transfer to your hotel and end of our services.
