7 DAY TRIP FROM MARRAKECH TO THE DESERT: BERBER ADVENTURE

DAY 1: MARRAKECH – OUARZAZATE

Pick up at the airport and start of the route. We will cross the High Atlas to reach the so-called gateway to the desert: Ouarzazate. Visit to the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, as well as the opportunity to visit the film studios where many famous films have been shot. Dinner and accommodation according to the selected hotel category.

DAY 2: OUARZAZATE – AGDZ – DRAA VALLEY – ZAGORA

Departure from Ouarzazate at 7.30 in the morning towards the Kasbah of the Storks and panoramic view over the lake. Continuation towards Agdz (stop in Agdz for a short break) via the Tizi-n-Tinififft pass (1,660 metres above sea level). We take the track that leads to the Kasbah of Alkaid Ali in Tamnougale, and lunch on site. In the afternoon, continue along the 4×4 routes of Morocco through the Draa Valley with its parade of palm groves and ksours to Zagora (arrival at the end of the day in Zagora). DAY 3: ZAGORA – TAFRAOUT – RAMLIA – ERG CHEBBI – MERZOUGA

After breakfast, we will leave early, as a 280 km track stage of the “Paris-Dakar Rally” awaits us, all desert, crossing rivers of sand, dry lakes, endless plains. Observing the life of nomadic people. This stage will give us a start on what the desert is like, we will circulate parallel to the border with Algeria and we will eat in a refuge in the surroundings of Tafrawt. We will continue along the track until we reach the famous fine sand dunes of Erg Chebbi next to Merzouga. Dinner and accommodation according to the selected hotel category.

DAY 4: MERZOUGA – ERG CHEBBI – MERZOUGA

After breakfast, we will travel along another of the tracks used in the “Paris-Dakar Rally”, visiting desert nomads with whom we will have tea and see the oasis where some films were shot, such as “Sahara”, starring Penelope Cruz. We will also visit the village of “the blacks”, named after its inhabitants, who came from the slave trade brought from Sudan. And after lunch we will change the traction of the 4×4 for that of animal traction. We will ride camels, head towards the dunes to witness the majestic sunset in the desert and we will sleep in an oasis in the middle of the desert, located about two hours away. After arrival and some time to enjoy the calm and the immensity of the sand dunes, Bedouin dinner and night under the stars in a tent.

DAY 5: MERZOUGA – RISSANI – ERFOUD – TODRA GORGES – DADES GORGES:

We will get up early to see the sunrise from the top of a large dune. Breakfast and then we will return with the dromedaries to the hotel where we can take a refreshing shower. We leave for Rissani and Erfoud to visit the fossilized marble factory before continuing towards the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad. We will arrive at one of the highlights of the South: Todra Gorges. The Todra River has formed a gorge with vertical walls of enormous proportions and great beauty; it is a paradise for climbers and a unique place. Lunch on site and a half-hour walk to see the Gorges at leisure. In the afternoon we continue towards the Dades Valley passing through Boumalne. Dinner and accommodation in the Dades Gorges according to the selected hotel category.

DAY 6: THE DADES GORGES – BOUTGHRAR – VALLEY OF ROSES – OUARZAZATE:

We will go out on the track to enter the High Atlas, where we will observe the change of life of the Berbers of the mountains and the difference between the nomads of the desert and those of the Atlas. We will see the caves where they live, and we will have tea with them and we will be able to talk with them about their customs and play with the children (they really like Berber dancing), and we will follow the track to enter the Valley of Roses, where its people make creams, soaps and the famous rose water, all natural from their rose crops. We will eat in a typical local restaurant (lunch at your leisure) in the village of Boutghrar and then we will go into the valley until we finish our route where we started in Ouarzazate. DAY 7: OUARZAZATE – MARRAKECH:

After breakfast, visit the Kasbah of Taourirt and return to Marrakech crossing the High Atlas again with its spectacular natural landscapes. Transfer to Marrakech airport or to the hotel. End of our services.
