During our tour we will have the opportunity to visit the blue city of Chaouen, the beautiful coastal city of Asilah, as well as cross the Middle Atlas, visit the monumental imperial cities of Morocco, which includes a trip to Marrakech. 

We will also see all kinds of fabulous natural landscapes full of contrasts, among which palm groves, oases, Berber villages that crown the mountains, ancient adobe fortresses as well as the impressive dunes of Erg Chebbi in Merzouga stand out.

11 Day Morocco Tour from Tangier ITinerary:

DAY 1: AIRPORT OR PORT OF TANGIER – TANGER

Pick up at the airport or Port of Tangier according to arrival time with a sign that says the name of our Brothersideatours Agency and transfer to the hotel in Tangier, but on the way we will visit the cave of Hercules and then a tour of the coast until reaching the city center, transfer to the riad and free time to visit the Medina of Tangier. Night in riad.

DAY 2: TANGER – TETUAN – CHEFCHAOUEN

After breakfast, start the route towards Chaouen, a mysterious town founded as a secret place from which to attack the Portuguese settled on the northern coast of the country. Entry to the town was totally prohibited to Europeans until the arrival of the Spanish troops in 1920. 

It is located within a natural biosphere reserve. Chaouen is a holy city perched on a mountain, its streets painted in white and blue, a town of wise, kind and respectful people, who offer visitors beautiful declining urban panoramas, precious examples of local crafts and a peace and serenity that is difficult to find today. Arrival in Chaouen and free afternoon. Accommodation in a hotel in the medina.

DAY 3: CHAOUEN – ROMAN RUINS OF VOLUBILIS – MEKNES – FEZ

After breakfast, free time to explore the small blue medina of Chaouen, surrounded by the Rif mountains, wandering through its winding streets, entering through any of its 5 doors and letting our senses carry us among its old blue and white houses, full of new smells, colours and sounds. 

We continue our route towards Fez, skirting the Mamora forest and turning off about 27 km from Meknes (stop to take a walk around its square), where the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis are located. Time to contemplate and walk among the wonderful archaeological remains from the Roman era. Finally, arrival in Fez where we will spend the night in a riad with a swimming pool.

DAY 4: FEZ – FEZ (HISTORICAL AND PANORAMIC TOUR)

Breakfast and guided tour in Fez, the first of the Imperial Cities, its origin dates back to the 8th century. It is also one of the first holy cities of Muslim worship in Morocco and also has the pride of housing one of the oldest universities in the world. As we enter the streets of the medina (old town), we will feel that time has gone backwards: 

the guild structure is still present at work, the narrowness of its streets allows no other means of transport than donkeys and a constant swarm of people moves through the labyrinthine alleys in the middle of which we will be surprised by neighbourhoods such as the Andalusian neighbourhood and magnificent mosques and Koranic schools. Accommodation in a riad in Fez.

DAY 5: FEZ – IFRANE – AZROU – MONKEY FOREST – ERFOUD – MERZOUGA

From Fez we will head towards the Middle Atlas to visit Ifrane, known as the Switzerland of Africa. The next town will be Azrou “the rock”, a Berber village known for its crafts, carpets and wood sculpture and later, arrival in Midelt. In the Middle Atlas, you will be able to observe the monkeys that live freely in the cedar forests. We continue along the Tizi Talghemt or Camel’s Neck, at an altitude of 1,907 metres. 

The relief is impressive, the mountains are completely bare. Arrival in Errachidia, where the Tafilalet massif stretches out to the palm grove of Erfoud, which offers the best dates in the country. We continue the route until we reach the large dunes of fine orange sand of Erg Chebbi near Merzouga. Free time to enjoy a beautiful sunset in the desert. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel facing the dunes.

DAY 6: MERZOUGA – KHAMLIA – VISIT TO THE NOMADS IN THE DESERT – RISSANI – ERG CHEBBI DESERT

After breakfast, we will head towards the village of Khamlia, called the “village of the blacks” because its population is made up of descendants of inhabitants from Mali, excellent musicians who have made this art their way of life. 

We will enjoy a small concert of Gnawa music and continue our journey in a 4×4 to go around the dunes of Erg Chebbi in a 4×4, an extension of sand desert where the Great Dune of Morocco is located, more than 250 metres high, connecting by track with part of the route followed by the old Paris-Dakar, with the mountains that border Algeria in the background. 

Later stop at a panoramic point where you can contemplate the Erg Chebbi as a whole and the old khol mines and abandoned Berber and French villages. Visit to a nomadic settlement where we will learn some secrets of their life and customs. 

We will then head towards Rissani to see its authentic African market where nomads and inhabitants of nearby villages come to sell their products and buy the items they need and you can try the tasty Berber pizza if you fancy (it is only made here). 

Return to the hotel and in the afternoon the dromedaries await us to enter the desert, while the sun sets, until we reach the tent camp in the middle of the desert of high dunes, where we will spend the night in a tent. Dinner and night in a tent under the stars of the desert.

DAY 7: ERFOUD – TODRA GORGES – DADES VALLEY

In the morning, you can get up early to see the sunrise from the top of a large dune and then return with the dromedaries to the hotel. After a good breakfast and a refreshing shower, we continue towards Erfoud, also famous for its fossil quarries, over 380 million years old, which are worked by the local people to obtain many objects. 

We will continue until we reach the famous Todra Gorges, a favourite place for climbers and trekking enthusiasts, where you will have time to walk between the high mountain walls and cool off in the river. We will continue towards the Dades Valley, following the so-called “Route of the Thousand Kashbas”, 

until we enter the Valley of Roses where its people make creams, soaps and the famous rose water from the cultivation of these flowers. Dinner and accommodation in a cozy hotel in the mountains next to the Dades River.

DAY 8: DADES – SKOURA – OUARZAZATE – KASBAH AIT BEN HADDOU – MARRAKECH

We will head towards the impressive Dades Gorges, following the course of the river that will take us into landscapes full of strange geological formations, abandoned kasbahs, Berber villages and lush orchards. From here we will continue towards Ouarzazate, passing first through the village of Skoura, located in the heart of the valley of palm trees. 

You can take a walk through the extensive and labyrinthine oasis, whose lush vegetation covers beautiful secret kasbahs and you can also visit the Amerdil kasbah. We will continue towards Ouarzazate, where we will take a panoramic view of the Taourirt kasbah. Ouarzazate is also known as the “Hollywood of Morocco”, so if you are interested in cinema, you can visit the film studios where many famous films have been shot. 

30 km from Ouarzazate we will visit the famous Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO). Free time to walk through the streets of the Kasbah and climb to the top to see the beautiful views of the valley. 

In the afternoon we will resume our journey through the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the Tizi Ntichka pass (2,260m above sea level), making the stops you wish to enjoy the spectacular mountain landscapes with their stone villages in their valleys or hillsides. Arrival in Marrakech, where you could take advantage of the night to experience the magical atmosphere of Jemma el Fna square, a unique spectacle. Night in a riad in Marrakech.

DAY 9: MARRAKECH – MARRAKECH

Free day in Marrakech (optional guided tour), a city famous for its Jemaa el Fna square, which will take up much of your time: an amalgam of aromas, sounds and sensations that is unrepeatable. The city also has countless places to wander around and enjoy: the Majorelle Gardens, the Menara, the Saadian Tombs, 

walks through the medina or the mellah (the old Jewish quarter), the route of the walls and the modern city (Gueliz) with its Western ways of life. Accommodation in a riad in the Medina of Marrakech.

DAY 10: MARRAKECH – CASABLANCA – RABAT – ASILAH

Breakfast and departure for Casablanca. Arrival in Casablanca and panoramic visit of the country’s economic capital, the exterior of the Hassan II Mosque and a short tour to see the most emblematic points of the city: the Boulevard de la Corniche, the Park of Nations and Mohamed V Square. 

You can also enjoy a walk if you feel like it along the beaches on the boulevard of La Corniche. Afterwards we will continue towards Rabat, where we will make a panoramic visit of the capital of Morocco, the Royal Palace, the mausoleum of Mohammed V, the Hassan Tower, Kasbah Oudaya, etc. 

and we will continue towards the coastal city of Asilah. Free time to visit the beautiful and quiet white medina of Asilah and enjoy the views from the viewpoint next to the sea and the beach. Night in a hotel in Asilah.

DAY 11: ASILAH – TANGIER AIRPORT

Breakfast and transfer to the Airport or Port of Tangier to take your return flight according to departure time and end of our services.
